What's new

Can not believe it cleaned up this well!

Well picked up a fatboy in a lot off the bay, with intentions of giving it to my brother who has been curious about adjustables. Thought at the price with a few other razors why not. It certainly looked like a user grade that might clean up a bit. Wasn't expecting much, but again for the price why not...

Much to my surprise this came out very well! Just found out he bought a futur, so probably keeping this one for me haha!

Ill be your brother!!:001_smile Great looking razor! How did you clean it just scrubbing? Did you polish it?

Did a 15 minute soak in scrubbing bubbles and then finished up with a little bit of maas. All in all, about 20 minutes worth of work well spent!

Jay:

Very nice job of bringing one of Gillette's great old razors back to life again. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your shaves.

No!!! I still would use it...and by the looks of that box with all those other razors you're not lacking on razors!!! your brother - trdjohn :)

Look for any bathroom cleaner than is safe on metal fixtures and cleans up soap scum. Scrubbing bubbles also disinfects, which is nice but not strictly necessary.

I'd come across one of those scuzzed up Fat Boys a few weeks back and got it looking real smooth and oddly enough ended up passing it on to my brother along with the proviso that if traditional shaving did not work out for him I'd be more than happy to take it back.

Several people have asked regarding MAAS but just remember that is not for gold razors, I've found that Weimans Metal Polish works just as well (if not better) and is safe for gold and silver.

My first Fatboy looked worse than that! It was totally yellow from soap scum. Cleaned up just like yours.

Here's a tip you might be able to make use of. If you want to clean under the adjustment bed get some bristle pipe cleaners. Perfect for the job!
