Can anyone ID or put a date on these blades?

Hello fellow shavers!

Flea market find of the past weekend has yielded quite a few packs of blades and I was wondering if anyone had some insight into approx date of manufacture or some further info on all of them, particularly the Personnas which are contained in a very neat hinged box of 5....also I think the Schick dispenser is quite cool as well....additionally, are these the precursor to the Gillette "Spoilers"?

Would these be safe to shave with? - apparently they were stored within a box in a basement with very little humidity - thanks for any/all help..

You are correct, the Gillette Stainless did come before the Super Stainless, Spoilers.

The Gillette blades should have an alphanumeric date code on the blade itself.

Also, check out Mr. Razor's site for more info and pictures of Gillette blades.

As for the Schick and Personna blades, I'm not sure of the dates but I'd guess the 1960's

Thanks for the info and the link Chris - anyone have an idea on the Personna and Schicks? Also...think these are ok for use? None of them look rusty and the Personnas are individually wrapped within the hinged case.

Those Schick Stainless are excellent blades. Just finished using one and got 7 nice shaves. Could have probably gone as far as 10 but chose not to push it.

The plunger-style Schick should be very early 1960s. They only got into DE blades ca. 1960, and that was the earliest blade pack design. Carbon or stainless? Or is the pack empty? My guess is they were carbon.

The "Do Not Wipe" Kronas are also pretty early: first-generation stainless from ca. 1963 if what I posted at http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showth...Not-Wipe-Blade!-Why-Not?p=5516957#post5516957 is correct. I shaved with one this morning.

The Gillette should be just a little later, because Gillette was last to market with stainless blades. But those were the earliest Gillette stainless, and should have a date code.

The Personna pack is probably 1963 or later, but I have not made a study of those.

That Personna package- Mid-60's, Some US made, some British made- a very good and aggressive blade, especially for Personna. (The first Personna Stainless dispenser was all plastic, but the blades were not individually wrapped).

All are safe to shave with and good blades. The one Krona is not stainless and their first DE blade, as noted earlier.

Thanks All - I do appreciate the info and the links - what a treat to see that old time advertising....packs are full and I am glad the blades (Schick) are decent ones - I have about 100 blades of each to try, except for that cool plunger case which I just have the one.

I'll have to let everyone know what results I get after trying them.
