Can a Rhodium President tarnish?

Fellow B&B'ers. I have a question for you...I have a 1953 Gillette President with a rhodium finish. On the TTO knob, there is a bit of a discoloration, similar to what I've seen on one of my gold tone Aristocrats. Can it be the brass poking through? Any suggestions to remove it? Thnaks for your guidance!

The plating can wear for sure, just like gold silver nickle. Usually the gold ones are the first to go, but I've seen Rhodium plated Brit Gillette's half brassed .. not sure if there's a difference between what I call brassing (plate loss down to the underlying brass metal) or tarnish, which I associate with silver plate

Thanks for the note. Maybe tarnish isn't the right term, as it's got a rose colored hue to it. If I can figure out how to post pictures, I'll snap it and get it online.

Hi,

Sounds like the plating is thin in that spot and letting some light reflect back off the underlying brass.
