C&E Sandalwood

I've posted in other threads about how good a performer C&E Sandlawood is, but I'm giving it its own thread tonight! As I watch the baseball playoff game at 9:45pm ET, I notice how little stubble I have after my morning shave, and I wonder why I don't reach for this puck more often. The only complaint I have had with this great lathering, long lasting puck is that it would sting a little on the first pass, and more on the second. I have made all of my shaves nearly irritation free with an application of preshave oil. Might go for 2 in a row tomorrow!!

Totally agree with it being a quality soap. No issues with sting because I don't shave on back to back days.

Can you explain what you mean by "sting?" Do you mean like a reaction to something in it or...? I wonder because I get absolutely fantastic, irritation-free shaves from T&H creams, but they always feel really rough (almost painful) while I'm shaving. It's an odd phenomenon indeed.

Yeah... There is some sort of irritation. It is as if the first pass of the razor causes a tiny nick, then the soap makes it sting. It occurs mostly under my neck. Preshave oil has eliminated this issue. Another good close one this morning!

I get that around my "lips" area sometimes--though I don't think I get it with the C&E Sandalwood. Certain sensitive skin areas on different people likely react to different scents/preservatives/etc.

So far, Cavendash Black has been the worst "stinger" for me.

Count me in as a C&E Sandalwood lover, have been for some time. It remains in my regular rotation. I keep trying other things of course but for now my main four are J.M. Fraser Polar Ice cream, Proraso in the green tube, eShave Lavender soap and C&E Sandalwood soap.

I have not yet tried C+E Sandalwood, but I did have a most enjoyable shave with C+E Sienna this morning. If the performance of the two soaps is similar, then I definitely need to try Sandalwood at some point.

I bought a bowl of C&E Sandalwood soap while I was on vacation last week. At $13 in the fancy wooden bowl it seemed like a bargain.

I'm really enjoying the soap. Like it even better now that I'm home using water and a bowl I'm used to.

I haven't had good luck with C&E Sandalwood. I love the scent, but it just isn't slick enough for me.

+1! I love the scent, but the slickness isn't there and the lather is rather thin. It doesn't even come close to the sacred monster latherers of this forum: Cella, Tabac, etc.

The sandalwod scent is great, though!

Agreed, the lather isn't as dense as some of the best performers. Could use a little more cushion. I never get any skipping, preshave oil or not. The end result is always a great shave, and I like the Sandalwood scent! I'll get another puck (and bowl) in a couple years when I finish this one!
