I have a senator, I don't dislike it, but I don't love it either... On the plus side, they feel completely unique, as far as the downsides go, the grip is not great, the handle is a bit too thin, and it could stand to have a touch more weight to it. A lot of ppl seem to get droppy knobs who have these, but mine is rock solid so I can't complain about that.

I really like the shave from my Aristocrat #15, I also have a Popular but haven't used it yet.

Not sure how the US diamond base plate versions compare though.

It's probably the same length as something like a fatboy on a technicality, but in practice it handles shorter as the bottom of the head on the senator comes over the neck of the handle. That isn't what I dislike though, as I kind of like a short handle, the thing with this is it is thin like a ball end tech but has somewhat slick grip at the same time. Something like a flare tip does a thin handle well as that handle has tremendous levels of grip in all directions. The senator kind of has that same blah knurling that the common bar new handle has. It looks great on a dry, shiny razor, but wet and in use, it is a mixed bag.
