Burt's Bees Shaving Cream as Pre-shave

Hi All,

Has anyone tried Burt's Bees Shaving Cream as a Pre-shave? I know, it's really pretty poor as a stand-alone brushless shave cream, but I find it makes a much better pre-shave for me than Proraso, because the natural ingredients don't make my face break out.

It also leaves your face feeling so soft!

I've never tried it as a pre-shave, but you got me to thinking ... maybe I'll give it a go in the next few days.

I used Burt's shave cream today, along with the ASB. I got a great shave out of it, with a Derby blade in an (unmodded) Progress on 4.5

Granted, the texture of Burt's shave cream is a bit unusual ... but that doesn't stop it from performing its function.

With most soaps and creams, I can sometimes skip re-lathering between passes, or at least just move some leftover lather around from other parts of my face. Not so with Burt's. The blade scooped up every bit of lather on each pass, and I had to squeeze more onto my face each time.

It did seem a bit thicker than most lathers, but it rinsed easily off my razor under running water.

The end result is that my skin felt soft and smooth, but considerably different than when I use most of the products from my rotation.

I don't think that I will use Burt's as a regular part of my rotation ... but it makes a good choice for quickie shaves and traveling.
