Bump Fighter handle issue

Ordered a bump fighter handle a couple of weeks ago and it came in yesterday. Love the feel and the weight of it. The only issue I had was the metal piece (the track the cartridges slice onto to) was quite loose. The plastic clips that hold it in place didn't hold it very tightly. Also, the carts (Gillette Trac II Plus & Generic Brand) would slide half off the handle if shaken violently enough. I was quite disappointed.

What I decided to do is cut off those small plastic clips and remove the metal track. I then took a couple of pairs of pliers and grabbed each end of the track and gave it a little twist. Just to offset the alignment a little so the carts don't slide off anymore. I got some super glue and glued the metal track back on the handle. Now it's on the handle nice and tight and the carts also don't slide off anymore. I'm a little concerned that rinsing the razor in hot water while I shave will cause the glue to weaken and one day the cart will come flying off. I imagine it's a recipe for a nasty cut. I guess only time will tell.

Just thought I'd share my experience and how I remedied the situation.

Humm..I had a BumpFighter handle, and as I remember, the metal track was screwed into the resin handle. Mine was not loose at all.

Really? Screws would've been nice! Unfortunately all that was holding the metal track was 4 small plastic clips. Very flimsy. Once I cut off the two in the middle, the track slid right off.

I have had two BF handles, and it seems like there's a bit of a "QC" issue with them when used with a Trac II cart. One of my handles worked perfectly, and one of them was very loose and my cart kept slipping off the end. I suppose that this might have to do with the BF not being "designed" to work with T II carts.

Glad you found a solution; I simply trashed the bad one and kept the good one - since I paid $3.50 for it at WalMart it seemed small beer (Damn you, WalMart, for not stocking the ASR Twin II carts anymore!)

(Oh, and BTW, my handle was the "screwed rather than plastic tabs" kind, but even after removing the screws it still wouldn't separate - it had tabs as well- and once the screws came out the threads in the handle were stripped and useless.)

It's kind of funny cause I didn't need a Bump Fighter handle. But you guys are enablers so I had to get one. :tongue_sm

I have an original Trac II Plus handle that my father gave me recently and a SuperMax Trac II imitation that's heavier built and studier than the Gillette. I guess I just like spending money.

there is a middle metal click lever on vintage trac2 handles fits on plastic cartridge
this is made gillette brazil v-3 solid plastic handle/metal head
