Brush i d this a tough one.

I picked up this brush, and wooden bowl up in a pass it on shop for $5.00. All the research I have done leads to a dead end. It states on brush made in West Germany, so I would assume it was made prior to 1990. Has anybody out there ever seen this brush before, as I am curious as to the maker. No markings to be found anywhere on either piece. The bowl looks like it may be Walnut?

Thanks Ron

Pretty sure it's a Rex.

Brush maker. I think mostly paint brushes these days if they're still around. They made mostly (perhaps only?) boar brushes with wood handles.

Decent brushes. Not especially durable as I recall. Mine fell apart after a few months (flimsy soft wood and not well sealed). The knots are just "ok".

The bowl and soap are very nice. I saw that auction (or a similar one) a month or two back (Think it ended unsold with a $30 or $40 starting bid, almost bought it for the soap/bowl, but didn't really need them).

Seeing the brushes you've got in the background, I'd probably not bother with the Rex, but if you don't have plans for it, doesn't hurt to try it and see if you like it. Maybe I just got a dud with mine. Yours definitely looks nicer than mine did.
