Picked up one of these last week from "Merry Old England", and I presume it is referred to as a "British New"? Did a model with these features ever get produced over here in the Colonies? Can anyone tell me anything more about it?
Pic borrowed from the wonderful site owned by Mr-Razor, 1930's British New (mine is nearly identical, though no box/case or accessories, although it did come with a proper box containing a NOS blue dispenser complete with (quantity unknown) new blades from a later era (a nice accessory for the building display!).
It's unique, in the raised profile under the head, in that the head is attached to the handle (ala Single Ring Old Type), and especially in that the retaining nut/barrel unscrews to release the cap, yet is still held captive in the handle tube.
Pics when I get it cleaned up, but it is identical to the one pictured with the exception of the "cross slots" and corresponding flanges on the head cap and base, and the fact that the flanges/tongues on either side of the center post on the cap are longer, typical of what you'd see on the Domestic New.
