Bostonian New vs New Improved??

I just got this razor courtesy of Whiteweed although I think it belonged to Jake, too at one point. Any way it is what I call a thick bar handled New, but I also understand that that it may have been sold under the Bostonian label too. Krumholtz's chapter on the Gillette New does not shed any illumination about this razor so I was hoping our experts here could help fill me in a bit more. Thanks in advance!! (thanks Whiteweed!)

By point of reference, most often the razor I think of under the Bostonian name is this one...

The one I have says Bostonian right on top of the case lid.

Gillette can and did often call razors different names depending on which case they were sold in.
Without the case that a common NEW with short combs and a Bar handle.
