Blindfolded straight razor shave.

After almost 6 months of straight razor shaving I wondered if I could pull off a blindfolded straight razor shave, so I had to try it and made a video of it.

Here's the video:

Excellent. That is one hollow blade you are using. I can still hear the echos of the whiskers dying. ;-}

I don't know if I would want to prove it to myself, but I'm of the opinion that you don't need to see the blade at all. Just start with the right angle and you'll feel the rest. Indeed, I can't really see the exact angle most of the time - I adjust according to feel. I actually DO shave my head with a straight and a lot of that is in the blind since I don't use mirrors to try to see the back... which would probably be worse than doing it blind.

sometimes ill do touchups where I store my straights in my bedroom..by feel..I doubt I would wanna try this with my wedge grind razors though...only the "lightest" of touches needed..:lol:

My only concern would be uneven sideburns.

Nice vid!

I went for nearly 30 years and never used a mirror to shave, even before shaving my head.
This was with and without sideburns, 'stache, Van Dyke, etc...

All by feel, with the right hand holding the razor and the left hand locating "landmarks" and providing a guide.

I use a mirror with the straight primarily to keep track of the tip of the blade around the ears and nose.
