blade for a redtip?

Hi all,

I bought a redtip off another member here and am going to use it tomorrow, what blade should i use? so far i have used gillette 7 oclock yellow and astras in other razors. i think i prefer the gillettes, shall i go with that, or the astras as they are a little milder and the redtip is quite aggressive? or am i mistaken? thank you

I have used everything from lords to feathers in my red tip. The Red Tip, is my favorite razor and not as aggressive as it's reputation would have it. Right now, I am using Super Iridiums in it and I believe I have finally found the perfect combo for me.

Me too. Super Iridiums, that is. I hope they keep making them though there is a thread where alot of questions have arisen.

I'd guess you will do well either way. I like my blades a little sharper, my Shark SC's perform famously in my red tip. I'd go for the 7 o'clocks.

Anything works well, my favorite is a red personna. This razor has a reputation of being aggressive, but it's really not. I find it pretty weak actually. I just gave mine away as a gift since I wasnt really using it. I found it comparable to a setting 3 or 4 on a fatboy, I like to use a 7 or 8.

I have to agree with the Super Iridium recommendation. I am working through a sample pack and I really do like the Super Iridium in my red tip. The only blade I've had any problems with is a Shark stainless. They and my face just don't agree. To be exact, if anyone wants 4 Shark blades, PM me and I'll send them to the first person who can tell me who played Ensign Pulver in the 1955 movie "Mr. Roberts".

Sharks + Red Tip = Topgumby Shaving Bliss.

I don't want to be a lemon and jack up your PIF, but I'll say it wasn't Charlie X.
