Blackland PVD coated Blem razors sale.....

Some nice prices for sure but I already have a stainless steel Vector and Blackbird razor. As it is I sadly don't think I am going to be able to afford the Osprey regardless of price. The Aussie dollar falling lower has not helped my financial situation at all either.

If any of you have been on the fence of buying any of these razors this might be a good opportunity.

I might have to get a PVD Blackbird in black. I remember when I first learned of Blackland and their Blackbird, I went on their social media and saw the original one that was in black but it was black oxide and they had already discontinued them at that time. Next question OC or SB?

And concerns the PVD coating will wear away over time with normal use and cleaning?
There’s a thread here with the PVD looking ”odd” on a member’s dark Masamune. I’m neither metallurgist nor a coatings expert so I don’t want to speculate beyond looking odd. Potentially something to consider ?

Edit: there’s further discussion of the discoloration below the photo

I picked up a black Vector PVD from the sale. Not my first go around with the Vector, but I wanted to give it another try. I'm fairly pleased with the shave this time around, but getting the blade off is turning out to be an issue. I wonder if the coating might be part of the reason. Anyone else have an issue with blade removal/installation on these? The tolerances seem exceptionally tight, possibly to a fault. I do plan to reach out to Shane/Blackland about it, but thought I might check here as well.

Yeah, that tiny blade is a bit tricky, IMO. I have a machined SS Vector. Sometimes it sticks to the cap and sometimes it sticks to the base when you take it apart. That's just the way it is. This is why I load a fresh blade and don't touch it again until the last shave and time to bin the thing.

Thanks. Any tips for getting the blade out without slicing something open?
