Better Winter Shave Cream/Scent:TOBS Sandalwood or TOBS Mr Taylor?

Which TOBS Shave cream would be the more fitting/appropriate cream/scent for these next few cold, blustery winter months? TOBS Sandalwood or TOBS Mr Taylor? I've always been under the impression that Sandalwood is pretty much a summer/fall scent.

Mr. Taylor is good. Haven't tried the Sandalwood. I don't worry about the seasons. I use what I want, when I want. Never had a problem.

Mild? It's supposed to be one of the strongest Sandalwood scents out there.

Yeah, I concur. All of the reviews that I read today indicated that it's so strong that it's almost too strong, because your bathroom will still smell like Sandalwood 2 hours after you've shaved and left for work. So far, that's the only sticking point that has me hesitant about going with the Sandalwood over the Mr Taylor.

err...does the season really matter in choosing the creams? :001_huh: do advise if it does....keen learner anytime...

I personally use the sandalwood and while it is a strong scent, I don't find it sickening or overpowering. I'm on my second tub of it. (Although I plan to try a different TOBS soon, want to mix it up and try new things.)

I have always thought that the answer is "Absolutely!". Just as there are many colognes that you only wear in the summer or only wear in the fall or only wear in the winter, I would assume there are many shave creams that you typically only use/utilize in the fall or in the winter or in the summer. Would you want to smell like Rose or Lavender in the dead of February? Would you want to smell like the cedary woods in the middle of July when walking down the street of a hoppin' downtown of a big city?

Would you want to smell like Rose or Lavender all cleaned up and relaxing on the couch with a mug of your choice of hot beverage during a cold, mid-winter storm? Would you want to smell like the cedary woods heading out for a backcountry trek on a calm Summer day?

To each their own! :)

Honestly the scent of my shaving cream is often covered up by time and the aftershave quickly. It's mainly to enhance my experience when I'm shaving.

Whatever the case, I wouldn't want to smell like a summer scent in the middle of February and I wouldn't want to smell like a fall or winter scent in the middle of July. I mean, say for example, I'm walking down the streets of downtown Miami Beach or Orlando or the Las Vegas Strip one night and I walk into a hot night club. Am I going to want to be smelling like the wooded forests of Washington or Oregon? No. I'm going to want to be smelling like rose or lavender. But as you said, to each their own.

OK, here's my view:

The TOBS Sandalwood cream isn't overpowering at all IMO. It's quite different to other Sandalwod creams, it's quite soapy - but very nice. I'm not keen on the Sandalwood AS though, so layer it with the Mr. Taylor AS.

My vote is for Mr. Taylor..not sure if it's exactly a winter scent. But I like to think of it as a lighter scent that is more of a daily scent

TOBS Sandalwood was my first cream and still use it today. I haven't tried Mr. Taylor so I can't compare the two. Truefitt and Hill Grafton is a very good Fall and Winter cream, IMHO, and is one I would recommend. Best wishes in your search.
