Best Way To Clean Vintage Razor

Hey Guys,
Just got a great deal on a Gillette Aristocrat 1951 model. It is dirty and I was looking for suggestions on the best and most gentle way to clean it. I plan on using it so I would like it to be clean but would also like to keep it in as good as condition as possible. Thanks.

I used the baking soda with hot water in an aluminum foil coated dish. However, I cannot remember now what my wife wanted to restore so she used the same trick but added some Charley's Soap powder. Well, I added some to last time I cleaned my razors and it worked remarkable. Wife, 1. Me, 0.
