Best way to clean old razors?

I have just aquired two old Gillette razors. They are in great shape, but ust need a good cleaning and maybe some buffing. What is the best way to clean the old soap scum and whatever else is on the old razors off. I tought about soaking them in borax, but before I try anything I would like some advice from some of you guys?

I don't wat to ruin the finish on them.

The advice i've read here, and what works for me is "Scrubbing Bubbles". I just spry it on, let it soak, and scrub 'em with an old toothbrush. I have never bothered polishing the ones I have, but I hear that Flits or Mass (sp?) metal polish works well.
I'm sure more experienced members will chime in shortly.

Thanks - which product of "Scrubbing Bubbles" do you use? I found several products. Is it the Scrubbing Bubbles® Soap Scum Remover?

Yep... soap scum remover. I'm sure close counts, just avoid abrasives.
For that matter I'm sure a bit of vinegar and dish soap might work... but if your razor melts into a pile of sludge, don't blame me

Those came out awsome! Semi-chrome also works well if they need a polish, though it appears these do not. Great find.

Darn, except for the Red Tip, that looks like last weeks razor finds for me. Except my Krona doesn;t have words on the doors and is missing endcaps.

If you have a heavy beard you'll love that Red Tip or the adjustable. I have a Red Tip, Slim Adjustable, Fat Boy Adjustable, Super Adjustable and a heavy beard and they all shave great but the my Open Comb beats them all. Of course the str8s are the best.

What setting do you have your slim on? Which blades do you like with the red tip?

I use a str8 now but when I used a DE I used Wilkinson Sword most of the time and occasionally the ones Wal Mart sales for $1.75 for 10 blades in the red package, not sure what brand they are. I set the adjustable on 6, that is close to the gap of the Red Tip.

I cleaned mine with a 2 hour soak in CLR plus a few drops of dawn dish liquid,came out like new !!
