Best Variety Pack

Hi everyone,

What do you feel to be the best variety pack you can buy for a double edge safety razor for the money? I am buying a new safety razor and haven't used one yet and not sure where to begin. I thought a variety pack might be the best bet. Please let me know.

Anyone? There are so many different ones on ebay and amazon. I'm not certain which is the best bet. I would imagine you probably want to try different brands and it looks like most are made up of the same brands just a bunch of different types. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

There are different discussions about this very question going on on the forum.
I can tell you what blades would make a good sampler pack in my opinion: Red Personna, Crystal, Feather, Permasharp Super, Gillette blacks or blues, Timor or Souplex, Astra and maybe Supermax Super Platinum.

I'd forget the sample packs and buy one pack of each of the following (generally speaking in order of sharpness): (1) Shark Super Chrome, (2) Red Personna, (3) Astra Super Platinum (4) Gillette 7 O'clock Super Platinum (black wrapper), and (5) Polsilver Super Iridium.

After your experience with those, you can match your opinions with others who have similar tastes and see where you should go from there.

Creating my own sample pack (buying one of pack I was interested in) worked quite well for me. I ended up with all the blades I wanted at less cost than the everything-but-the-kitchen sink pack that I was looking at.
