Best place to buy Vintage ?

Been looking everywere for a a vintage gillette adjustable ( fatboy or a slim )looked on ebay the prices are unreal , I found a site called ecrater and another one etsy but so far no adjustables ! Cant post in the b/s/t yet and from browsing in it its all *conus* im in Scotland ! But if anyone reading this is selling one I'll take it of uour hands at a fair price ! Or even point me in the direction of somewhere selling one thanks in advance from a noob ( andy ) .

There is a web store call above the tie, he has adjustables of all sorts on his site.

They are not reasonably priced either but you dont have to bid on them, I bought a couple off him when his prices were lower, his delivery is good & delivery price is good too.

My experience on the delivered razor was that the 1st one I bought was good, the 2nd one was OK.

As they say around here YMMV.
Cheers

Option 1: Sit tight and get to know the various corners of B&B. After a relatively short wait, you'll be eligible to post on b/s/t.
Option 2: Put on your hat and coat, gas up the car, and start combing the antique stores in your area. A lot more work and time than the first option, but it's fun if you have a taste for puzzles or treasure hunts, and you are virtually guaranteed the cheapest prices for any given model.

Not familiar with Scots' customs, but what we call swap meets and flea markets ("boot sales" to you?) frequently have some shave gear, as do yard sales. Old razors tend to go cheap as no one has any use for them. Usually nothing available, but some gems do surface. Fun to browse in any event

+1 You could always try the dreaded "ebay" as you may find a deal, but that would be a last resort. Good luck and welcome to the forum!

I actually just purchased my first vintage razor off ebay after failing to find any DE razors at any of my local antique store. i got a 1955 Gillette SS for $10. Not sure if thats a good or bad deal but it looks like its in great condition. happy hunting.

eBay CAN be a great thing, if you have patience and know what to look for.
I've bought a brush to restore for $8 off there, an old type with a brush for restore for a good deal, and an LC NEW on there for a good deal. But, it took some time and some hesitation to do that.

I agree with going to the antique stores and junk shops. Several weeks ago I picked up a Fatboy and a Slim adjustable for $5 each. I've used the Fatboy three times now and it performs great. I also picked up another slim adjustable for $1 at another junk shop. It looks perfect...and I didn't break the bank to get it.
