hay were is the best place to get a barbicide jar. doent have to be the really tall one ither just big enough for razors to fit in.

The mid-size jar is $25 ... with a little more research, you can find the tall size jar for under $20.
I had no idea they still made these. I had looked at a couple in antique stores and passed because they were expensive. Good to know I can get one for $20!
I got mine on amazon, too.
I got my large one in an antique store for $12. They had put drinking straws in it. 
I have a little one that looks just like a Barbicide jar, but it's about 8" tall and 3.5" wide. There were various sizes as to allow for a bathroom set for swabs, cotton balls, etc. It was very cheap; under two bucks. I think I got it at a Dollar Store or Christmas Tree shops. It was a couple of years ago, so I can't remember. Anyway, I guess my point is, they're out there for cheap money if you have a place to look.

Apart from the look, is it any better than a cafetiere?
I use a 1 qt canning jar. I put the lid on tight and store it on a shelf out of sight.

+1 on Sally's. I got my large one there locally for $18.
I use an old glass jam/preserves container. Works well and it was free
I've definitely seem them in vintage shops around the $20 range. And for me, if it's close to the same cost as new, I would go for the older, used one. If I had shelf space, I would have one for display.
