I don't know if you can get it there or not but I use Neutrogena Post Shave Lotion. It is around $6 a bottle and that along with a splash of Thayer's Rose Petal Witch Hazel are what I use immediately after a shave. After that is when I put on the stuff that smells good or does some more soothing and moisturizing.

My favorite is Proraso aftershave balm and that's what I use 90% of the time. I also use Speick sometimes but not so often these days. Those are my favorites of all the ones I've tried and many more expensive ones don't do as well with me and cause me to break out or my face to be irritated...
I think Musgo real is quite nice but the scent is rather polarizing and when I am in the office, I don't want to smell like a grandpa when I'm only 30.
Tabac is also polarizing people love it or hate it and I think it is alright but everyone else around me hates it so I can't use that one anymore :p

Conclusion:
Proraso

The Proraso balm is great stuff! It's very soothing, and has a very faint scent. To me the scent smells fresh and clean, but it quickly disappears. It's what I reach for when I have a bad shave, with lots of razor burn. Proraso cools the burn and leaves the face feeling great. I highly recommend this stuff!

Is there any aloe vera aftershave balm in that price range??
I have just started using some afterburner ice it is an aftersun lotion that is aloe vera based and it is awesome.

The balms from St. Charles Shave might be what you're looking for. I like their balms better than their EDTs. They're very reasonably priced and, if you like, you can combine them with matching EDTs and/or shaving creams & soaps.

Their balm is more expensive than 10 pounds, but Edwin Jagger has several aloe vera shaving products and they are very nice. You might be able to get better deals on their stuff on your side of the pond than we can over here.

I use Nancy Boy Cooling After-Shave Gel and find it is outstanding. Just a dab will do ya and it smells great. Pair it with their Signature Shave Cream and you have the makings of a great shave.

Proraso is my go-to balm. I really like it and it is pretty well priced. Also, that little bottle lasts a long time and when it is finished can be used as a hip flask. :w00t:

I enjoy the TOBS Luxury Aftershave balms. They are not inexpensive but they last a very long time so I think that they are a good value.

Regards,

Doug

When you all use balms, do you use it after every shave, or just when your face is feeling dry or irritated?

As for myself, I only use a balm when I've just given myself a rough shave (usually day after), so once in a great while.

Find your nearest Boots. Get their own brand 'Freshwood' balm. After much trial and error, its the best, most moisturising balm I have used. Its half the price of Nivea, and twice as good. Good luck mate.

I agree with some listed - Proraso is excellent as are Musgo and Nancy Boy. I'd also like to give a nod to Pre de Provance. It's got a very light scent similar to the soap and is incredibly soothing - on par with the Proraso.
