What's new

Been waiting for ages for one of these...

I finally got the 7 O'Clock NEW for a reasonable price:

The last one I was bidding on went for over £40, and one went for around £70.

The box and handle look identical to this NEW, with a slightly different head design:

As far as I am aware, there are only two 7 O'Clock designs that Gillette made and I have them both now. Here's the other one:

My daughter found me exactly the same, also in box, near mint for about 10 euros. She gave it to me for Santa Claus (in the shoe, as it is not yet december 5th). My best razor so far

If the blade exposure and angle is the same as my British Gillette NEW (which is identical to the Gillette in the link I posted), then there is something about that design that gives the closest possible shave with the least amount of irritation.

I have a Minora razor with the same design and I wasn't getting very good results with it until I experimented with the shaving angle. I found that using a more acute angle suddenly transformed my worst razor into one of my best and I did the same with the British NEW when I tried it. The only other razor that performs so well for me is the Old Type.

Congrats on two great looking sets....

Thanks.

The second set I linked to is an earlier model, as far as I can tell. The design looks a lot like a New Improved, with a single ring style handle. The razor doesn't seem to be as good quality as the other, NEW-style one. I'll post some pics when I have a chance but it looks like it's made of a cheaper alloy.
