1940's Gillette New vs 1920's Gillette New

The NEW was designed to be used with different blades, the New Gillette Blade
Here’s another Ad, with a little more detail about the “New” blade.

They are both excellent razors. But to say one is better for you is not possible. The NEW Improved for me was smooth as butter, & the NEW a small step less smooth. But many here will say the exact opposite. And the good news is everyone is right because all we can state is how it shaves for each of us. So in the noble pursuit of knowledge (and enablement!), you need both!

The New Improved razor from the 1920's is more aggressive than the NEW from the 1930's. The NI will bite you if you're not careful. Both are excellent, however.
This.

The New Improved is a fine shaver, but it has a lot more blade feel and requires a lighter touch. The New is smooth and comfy, without a lot of blade feel and with less aggression.

Personally, I think the New Improved is probably a bit underrated as a shaver, but on the other hand if I were forced to choose one of the two, I would take the New without having to think too long.
