Barrister & Mann Nocturne... My lord

I received a couple pucks from B&M today, one was nocturne. Wow, the description from their website was almost spot on, my face smells like a cider mill, and it's delectable.

It may be blasphemy here, but I think I found a tallow basedsoap that I rank higher than mike's.

Was this the first and only use? Eager to hear more. I was very intrigued by their description as well. Sounds awesome! Not blasphemy...Mike's makes a good soap, but so do others!

It was the first and only use today. I'll have another round with it when I get home from work tomorrow afternoon. There is sweet, and spice, it linger very well.

My favorite part? It pairs wonderfully with Pinaud VIBR. I can't ask for anything better going into another New England fall.

If you enjoy a room filled with the scent of spiced pumpkin bread baking in the oven, or enjoy a mug of spiced apple cider while sitting around a crackling fire, you'll enjoy Barrister & Mann's Nocturne. Of course the luscious, thick, lather that leaves your face all aglow, is what we've grown to expect from these wizards of the artisan soap world. Enjoy, I know I did this morning.

Just stop... :bored:

I'm interested to shave with it. The scent description is pretty much spot on, but I can't decide if I like it. I know it will shave well though

I was expecting simple apples and cinnamon, mostly cinnamon. This baby is so much better than that; subtle, complex - really, really nice.

Just shaved with it tonight. I think the apple smell is a little more pronounced in the lather. Not totally sold on the scent, but it is well done. And of course, it shaves like a champ

I received a sample of this with my recent order, it smelled like bubble gum to me. I'm just getting over a cold so I'll have to give it a shot in a few days.

So far I love everything about B&M's. The packaging was so well done and professional. The tins I got are a perfect size. I've only used it once so I'll hold off giving my opinion on the lather but so far I have really high hopes.

I think I'm going to order the nocturne and the bay rum from these guys. Is there any difference in the amount of soap you get from the tin or just the puck?

Nope. It's just whether it comes in a tin or not. I think their tin price is a tad high, but by the time you buy tins from somebody else and have them shipped, I guess tins are just more expsensive than I feel like they ought to be.

Would you be so kind to post a photo of the tin?

Tried my sample of Nocturne today. A really unique scent with more apple than I expected. Really enjoyed it, and got a great shave with it.

I had the same experience as Chris - unusual but terrific scent, great shave. It was my first try with any B&M and am very pleased with it.Takes me right back to my favourite time of year - autumn in Canada. Lovely stuff.

Sorry for the delay, I was late to come back to this thread. Tabac for scale and old memories. It's taken a backseat since I started with Mike's, and since using B&M's a couple times this looks like my top 3 right now.
