Barber Style Handle with 29mm Silvertip- Loft Suggestions?

I'm all but certain that I'm going to order an Ace Shaving 29mm Silvertip for my most recent restore. My question is, what loft?... I would like a brush that will work for bowl and face, but if I had to choose one or the other, I guess bowl would be best for this one. If anyone disagrees with this assessment, please feel free to tell me/us why. Thanks in advance for any input.

I have a 30mm WD silvertip set at 55mm and although I don't use it for bowl lathering I am sure it would work as well there as it does using it for face lathering. I'm not sure how dense the Ace knots are by comparison but 55mm would be a good starting point and if you use double-sided tape or a touch of silicone based glue you could always test and adjust if it doesn't meet your needs and finally set it permanently with more silicone adhesive or epoxy once you find the sweet spot.

I have used the 28 mm knot for a brush I made for someone who will choose their time to post pictures at a later date. The knot was set at 54 mm. You can go down further if you want to control the bloom (around 50 mm) if you want to tighten it up for face lathering. I was restoring a handle and could not go down deeper than 54 mm. If you can drop it slightly below that in terms of clearance, you should experiment with a lower loft.

Enjoy!

I am also wanting to use that big fat knot in a restore or a fresh turned handle. I have been thinking of really sinking it down below 50mm to find the ultimate soft+backbone. Looking forward to your finished brush.
