Balm+Splah+Sunscreen

Hello all,

I usually apply shaving balm and then AS splash in my daily routine.

I have been advised to use sunscreen. This would mean a three-layer application. Sounds a bit weird, doesn't it?

Any experience or advice from balm and splash devotes?

Thx.

On the rare occasion I need sun protection here in the UK I use American Crew balm which has SPF 15. I find it excellent and I assume there will be other similar products from other brands.

Splash comes before balm. From a dermatology point of view, always go from light to heavy (texture). Splashing alcohol after a balm is only removing all the product you just put on the skin.

Splash, balm and sunscreen always last. If your sunscreen has hydrating properties you can skip the balm.

Alex,

You are right about the application order. I used to do it the right way, but I read about the so-called Portuguese way and I adopted it because it keeps the smell for a longer time if you apply the splash the latter. I let a while to go between bam and splash.

Output-wise, it is not a big deal. Happy with that.

Thx.

I wasn't sure if I should post another thread but this is really similar so here goes:

Does anyone know of something that would work as a kind of aftershave with SPF, in one?

Usually I just use a fragrance-free sunscreen as a sort of aftershave but with some of the newer sunscreens and other products trickling in in various ways I've wondered if there's something that's meant to be used more specifically as a kind of aftershave or facial "after wash".

Stuff with fragrance is a no-go for a few reasons.
