Audiophiles - Amp up!

Ya I know, cheesy as all hell for a title. I didn't want to think. It's too early. :)

So audiophiles of B&B, what are you running? Home rigs? Portable? Do you consider yourself a "true audiophile" (snobby and all?) or just someone who really appreciates great sounding music?

What kind of music is your favourite? I know a lot of people will say "Well I listen to everything so I don't have a favourite". Yes you do. Everyone has that one genre that they like just a TOUCH more than others. If you don't...What's wrong with you?? :p I'm just kidding. If you don't have a favourite maybe say what's on your listening device right now?

So my new rig was covered in another thread but I'll reiterate here:

Portable:
iPhone 4 -> PSB M4U1
Laptop -> Fiio E07K -> PSB M4U1

Home:
Yami HTR-6063
All connections in via HDMI (PS3, WiiU, PC)
PSB Image Series including a pair of T5s, a pair of B5s and a C5.
Sub name escapes me, but it's a dual sub

I'm definitely not a "true" audiophile but I love good music and need it to sound great. Favourite music is Rock, but I love anything that has a good story. I'm currently on a bit of a classical and instrumental kick (M83, Russian Circles, Hans Zimmer, John Williams, Beethoven, etc.) as I find this type of music really tests headphones and helps burn them in properly.

Cheers,

M.

I can't have a big system at home so I went for the best in portable that I could afford.
iPod for the music using ALAC files. It does the trick. The ALAC files make a difference.
Objective2 portable headphone amp. I can't say enough good things about this amp. It cleans up the signal beautifully.
For headphones I'm currently using a pair of AKG K702.
I also have Sennheiser HD555 and Grado SR-80's.

I much perfer the AKG K702 for most music.

I really like headphones. I can detach from the world and be in my own little space.

My home theater entails 2 Bowers & Wilkins 683 towers, Bowers & Wilkins HTM61C center channel, Bowers & Wilkins M1's mounted on the back wall for surrounds, Martin Logan Dynamo 700 subwoofer all supported with 12 gauge braided pure copper wiring and a Yamaha Aventage 7.2 receiver. 54 inch Panasonic plasma and a PS3. It's far better than going to the theater.

Very nice.

I forgot to mention the display. That is a Panny 50" plasma.

Oh boy. I'd like to see some pics of this.

I used to be in the Fi biz (if you couldn't tell from the list) :001_smile. Worked in the Rosemead Ave University Stereo store in Pasadena. Also worked in Ft. Collins and in Daytona Beach in stereo stores. Most of it was purchased on salesman accommodation (factory direct).

I am not a true audio "snob", but I have audiophile tendencies (I came by it naturally, my dad started the trend, and we are both musicians). Right now I am running a H/K head through a Aragon 8008 amp to a pair of NHT 3.3's. I cannot begin to tell you how much my wife hates these speakers!

My record player/system is old and unchanged for too many years, I used to get passionate about my music, these days I'm simply a wet shaver wannabe :-D

Nothing too fancy here, I like it.

Receiver: Sansui QR-6500
Turntable: Pioneer PL-514
Speakers: Boston Acoustics A150
A pair of Grado SR60s and AKG k240s

TV setup
Receiver: Pioneer VSX-1120
Two Energy RC-50s and an RCLCR up front
A couple of Paradigm surrounds on the side and a pair Klipsch Synergy B2s (Goodwill for $7.99 for the pair)

The surrounds aren't matched, which may be a big deal to some. I was debating picking up four Energy surrounds, but got such good deals on the Klipsch and Paradigm speakers on Goodwill and Craigslist that I couldn't pass them up.

I'm not an audiophile, but I love my audio-technica ATH-M50. Someday I also want to get a good pair of Grado's.

Only two channels to mine: NAD CD player C565BEE, NAD Direct Digital Integrated Amp C390DD, Monitor Audio GS 20 Speakers, Logitech Squeezebox.
