Art of Shaving Horn Set Deal?

My wife, God bless her, was shopping around for a wedding anniversary gift and stopped in our local Art of Shaving store. Knowing that I'm into wet shaving, she was sold on the Art of Shaving Classic Horn Set which was featured on sale for Father's Day for $299.00. It came with:

Fine Badger Horn Brush
Classic Horn and Nickel Razor (Mach 3 Version)
Nickel Brush and Razor Stand
Lemon Essential Oil Shaving Soap with Wood Bowl
Lemon Essential Pre-Shave Oil
Lemon Essential After Shave Gel

It retails for $535 so she obviously got a deal on the products. I've never owned anything from AoS, so what kind of quality am I looking at here? The set looks striking but again, I don't want to be sold on looks.

Not real crazy about having to stock the Mach 3 cartriges again as I'm a Red Pack Israeli man, but is this a set worth keeping around? (She said she bought it on a whim so she encouraged reviews). Regardless, what a woman - she's definitely worth keeping around.

AOS is thought to be VERY GOOD stuff. Soap, creams, balms unguents and ointments..All top notch.
Their brush, you are gonna LOVE IT...
You may not get a lot of mileage from the Mach 3 blade holder.
It'll be good quality and look nice.
Maybe use it maybe put it in BST.

LOVELY LADY you have to think of such a nice and USEFUL gift.

The products themselves look of fairly high quality. Have you had any experience with the AoS stuff I mentioned? Especially the brush and razor. That's where the big money comes in here.

Two weeks ago I picked up a Horn Open Comb D/E. Reg. price $175 on sale for $75. I ran and got one. It shaves great. So much so I am now looking to add another open comb to my RAD.

Pity about the M3, but I'm sure the rest of it will do you proud. Genuine Horn is expensive stuff. I wonder if any of the artisans around here'd be able to modify the handle to make it compatible with an HD?

wow that's a pretty good deal!

the brush, stand and razor handle look very nice. while you may not get big usage out of the mach3 its still nice.

i haven't used the art of shaving soap but the cream is awesome for shaving and smelling. i hope when she showed you the gift you high-fived her.
