Arko soap, now in bowl

Mailman finally delivered a nice package from Istanbul today.
Three bowls of Arko!
From all appearances its the exact same soap, just in a plastic tub.
Good news for people who like to load from a bowl. $2013-03-07_15-07-17_371.jpg

Super sweeeeet! Love the stick and although you could mash them into a mug or any container I like this version in the bowl...Gonna have to order some of these bowls....From whom did you purchase them from?

Maveraeuropeemail on eBay.
Ordered on 2/25 and received today, so be prepared for a little bit of a wait.
price per gram is also a bit higher than buying sticks.
Tub reminds me of the tub Cella comes in, but a little wider and shallower

Do you have the ingredient list?

Do you have the ingredient list?

Slightly different from the stick.

For comparison, http://wiki.badgerandblade.com/Arko_Shaving_Stick lists:

Potassium Tallowate, Stearic Acid, Potassium Cocoate, Aqua, Sodium Palm Kernelate, Glycerin, Parfum, Parafinium Liquidum, CI 77891, Tetrasodium EDTA, Etidronic Acid, Disodium Distrylbiphenly Disuffonate, Amyl Cinnamel, Citronellol, Geraniol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Linalool.

I am not a chemist or a soaper, but I suspect some of the apparent changes are just nomenclature. Stearic acid is a a fatty acid: an input to soap-making. Meanwhile potassium stearate is an output: a saponified fat or the salt of a fatty acid. The stick ingredients look like a mix of inputs and outputs. Maybe they decided to regularize the list for better compliance with EU and USA regulations? There might have been some tweaks to make a firmer soap for the puck, too.

Odd that they apparently dropped hexyl cinnamal. I would expect that to affect the scent, and I think it has to be listed because it is a designated irritant if it is present.

The omission of cinnamal seems the only major difference, besides the nomenclature.
To my nose, the smell is no different than the stick, besides maybe being a bit stronger due to being in an airtight container.
Also while they may have had to fudge the formula around a bit to make it work better as a puck, the soap feels just as soft as the unwrapped stick I have onhand.
I have not yet lathered it up to see if it is functionally the same though. I will be shaving with it in an hour and will post my results.

Interesting...

> I like the bowl. I might get one, then when the soap is gone, go back to buying sticks and press it in there.

My thinking exactly.

I've got one too. I like the idea of bowl but unfortunately it is not very solid one. Smell is the same in my nose but a bit stronger (due to being fresher or because of the tight container). I've not shaved with it yet. I think you get a lot more bang for buck getting some sticks and a cheap wooden bowl (or a plastic container). It won't look the same that way though.
