Aristocrat TTO OC Sales Today

Is it just me or are TTO OC Aristocrats going for ridiculous prices? Today one with case and blade bank all in good shape went for GBP 185.26/USD297.27 and another with case in OK shape and blade bank, but needing a replate went for $143.70. For the second, the case was missing part of the outside cover and the interior was torn up where the head of the razor goes.

I sure am glad I got mine when I did. I thought I overpaid at $52, now I could at least double my money if I had the notion to sell it, which I do not. I am just trying to find a reasonably priced razor that needs a replate to send off for a black chrome job.

I honestly never go to eBay unless a link from here takes me. I used to be active on eBay years ago when guitars were my hobby, but I haven't bought or sold anything since 05'. I'm not sure I really care to reactivate my account. I'm not even sure I remember my password. I didn't realize they were selling for that much. I've seen them on the BST for much less. They are beautiful razors.

Amazingly, I was just contacted by a member who wanted to PIF me a 1934 Aristocrat that has been refinished in Rhodium. He doesn't really care for it and he remembered reading in a thread that I would like to have one some day. He also remembered reading about some of my wife's medical conditions and wanted to "pay it forward". I was absolutely speechless and blown away by the generosity. It's in the post now and should be here early next week.

An Aristocrat is out of my price range unless it would happen to be one that was beat up and needed a restoration. I figured eventually I'd find one like that. I could never justify spending eBay money on one with my wife's expenses right now. I am still in a bit of shock honestly.

Watch around here or for one with a cruddy finish for a replate. I picked up a #15 that was in great shape with case and instructions for $115. While still high, keep in mind the supply and demand.

Or just pick up a UFO kaiser short handle

It's not just you, man. I was watching both those auctions (partly your fault for your praise of the early TTO Crats). I bid 81 pounds on the one that eventually went for 185.26 pounds. Sick. I keep remembering you saying you got one for fifty something dollars. I'd like to have one, but I don't want one bad enough to plunk down three c notes for it!

Can someone help me out, I thought that the aristocrat had a safety bar and the Sheraton was open comb?

The '34-39 Aristocrat was a TTO OC razor like the '37 Sheraton & '38 Senator. In '40, the Aristocrat went to a solid bar through, IIRC, '51. Then the name took a break til about '61 when it became the name for a gold plated Slim.

I've just about given up on ebay uk as a source for good razors at a decent price. Even ones which the sellers don't describe properly and aren't well photographed go for silly money. BST is a much better place to look.

you got that right, some of the prices on uk ebay are outragous at the moment, de shaving must be picking up big time because people are paying the high prices, the chances of picking up a hidden bargain are all but gone, i am glad i got most of what i wanted before it went crazy, still a few i want to get, but have all but given up now on ebay,

I had a similar B&B experience with a limited and pricey Rooney Heritage 2XL brush. A B&B member sold his brush to me at a reduced price, saying he wasn't using it much. I was amazed!!!

Let us know what you think of the Aristocrat when it arrives. I, too, want a '30's Aristocrat. However, with the current prices and limited availability I'll have to live vicariously through your review for the time being.

Will do wacomme. I can't wait for it to get here. It has the case and blade case as well, and the case interior is in fantastic shape. It's an incredible gift that I'm still trying to absorb. Those Rooney Heritage brushes are some fantastic brushes. That was a very nice offer you received as well. There are some incredible people on this board. I try to give back in my own way, as best I can.

BTW, I grew up in Colorado Springs. 1977-1989. My folks lived there until 93'-94'. Lived right on Palmer Park Blvd about 2 miles west of Powers. General William Mitchell High School. Really nice place to grow up. Beautiful. So beautiful you take it for granted. I would love to move back someday, but the traffic is murder now.

I have a TTO OC Aristocrat that I won't use because it's NOS. I bought it for about $20 twenty five years ago. Can't imagine what it would bring now on ebay.

I am still looking for a few pieces on ebay and occasionally succeed in buying at a reasonable price. Last week I got a gold fat handle Tech in very nice condition for $15.

I've only been collecting about a year and a half, and fell in love with the Aristocrats early on. I scarfed up several 46/47's and one 1934. All of which cost me over $100 apiece. The '34 cost me $169 and I had to fix it. The prices were just going up then, and I fear they are going to continue going up. I wish I could acquire a #15 Aristocrat, but at the prices the British models are commanding, I'll never be able to afford one. A lot of the local antique dealers have inflated their prices ten fold due to the high prices on eBay too. I fear my collection is about as complete as it will get.

Are you looking to sell your Aristocrat?
