AOS Sandalwood - Quick Question

Well I've never quite asked a question like this but I'm understanding how I can do this. I just picked up some AOS in a nice Teak bowl, but how do I load my brush without making a mess of the shaving soap?

Yeah I know its the dumbest question ever, but seriously. The puck is so full or the teak bowl is just a tad too short. Just curious because I was able to load my brush rather quickly and make an amazing slick lather, but soap was foaming all over the bowl too. Maybe this is just how it is.

Thanks, Mac.

I load my teak bowl at a downward angle above my lathering bowl so that any proto-lather falls into lathering bowl. When done shaving, I turn the teak bowl upside down to rinse under running water. Dry, set it aside, and call it a day.

I load at an angle over my lather bowl for anything with short sides. Works well to capture all of the lather.

Or, you could shave off the bottom quarter inch of the puck, remold it into the bowl, wrap and put aside the rest of the puck.

Maybe your brush is to wet.

I used AOS today, some lather will escape, but I swipe up with the brush and then my fingers.

I've never heard of anyone cutting the puck.

YMMV

Thanks fellow shaving brothers!

Yeah I'm not a noob but not a wise veteran and this just didn't seem right. I'll angle this above my bowl. Whipping later is incredible and very easy. (Full Disclosure: I've never really had a problem with lathering). But this seemed very simple.

Good to know that I'm not the only one. I'll cut back on water in my brush too. Thought I'd throw this out here and sorry again for the noobish questions.

Don't worry: I make a mess every time I lather AoS soap. I just use my fingers to gather the excess and put it on my face. I also find that using a smaller brush results in less of a mess. However, I prefer larger brushes anyway.

I just load the brush and then face lather. I don't try to actually lather within the wooden bowl. When I used to bowl lather, I would do what several of the above posts mentioned (i.e. let the loose, wet lather fall into my seperate lathering bowl).

And you might be using more water than you needed to load the brush. I cover the puck with hot water before I get in the shower. Then wet the brush and squeeze most of the water back out. By the time I load my brush, the puck is soft on the top but there's no loose water on it. I add water to my brush after I've loaded it, and I also splash hot water on my face before lathering.
