Anyone Own/Use a Vulfix 404 Badger/Boar?

Rarely do I see any discussion about badger/boar hybrids, but this option has recently captured my attention. The Vulfix 404 looks like a quality brush with this hybrid mix. I'm just wondering how those of you who have one of these like it. But more specifically, I'd like you to share what qualities this mix presents that you have not found in the myriad choices out there.

Thanks.

The 404 used to get quite a bit more press, if you do a google search of badgerandblade.com you should see several threads with overall impressions. I'm not sure why it doesn't get as much discussion as it used to, but I look forward to reading recent experiences if there are any.

I had one! And my impressions are: VERY high quality handle. That's it.. Shedding knot, gluebump 12mm up the bristles, scritchy and scratshy.

Sorry but that's what I thought about it; steamed out the knot and putted a TGN Finest 2-band 26mm in there instead.

I am using this brush but this was my first and only brush so I have no point of reference. All I can say is that I am very happy with it. I initially used to bowl lather with Proraso red and now I moved to face lathering. With an almond dollop size I can have 4 passes. I also have a dr harris soap and no problem getting enough lather while face lathering, although I haven't used the soap extensively, only three or four times so far. But I'm planning to use it exclusively for a few weeks. My face doesn't get irritated, it doesn't hurt at all when I face lather. I think it sheds a few hair here and there, nothing too dramatic, but again I have no point of reference here.

It is a good brush, but what is truly outstanding for the money is the handle. No other brush in this price range comes with such a heavy and well made handle. If you don't like the riginal knot, order a badger one from TGN and you'll have a magnificent brush.

I bought it for the nice / well made handle...but i found out while i was using it, that it is an outstanding brush, excels with hard soaps, a perfect face latherer...probably the best value for your money!

This was about the same as my experience also. The brush was mostly boar with a little bit of pure badger mixed in. Not a very nice combination really.

If you're considering a boar/badger mix, the Semogue Special Edition is outstanding.
