What's new

Anyone ever try this?

I did my usual 3 pass shave this morning. After this, I usually do a touch up on my neck, both sides of the adam's apple, angle of the mandible and corners of my mouth. This time was, I did about 15 passes on my cordovan latigo strop after the 3rd pass then went to the touch up. Wow! Huge difference. I think my 3 pass shave beat up the edge enough that those few laps made a huge difference. :thumbup1:

well..I would think if you had to strop again to get a better edge..perhaps your razor wasnt "spot on" with its edge....YMMV though

But if you think about it, would you or could you do your next shave without stropping that razor. What I'm doing is just a few touch-up strokes away from the next shave.

when I started honing my own razors sometime ago..they used to get dull mid shave..so..I needed to keep on the 1k level til it was"spot on" with the edge..any less will go downhill quick...touch up strokes should only be used when 2+ months go by and your razor begins to "tug n pull" assuming your lather is fine as well...thats where the "touchup" paste or hone will bring the edge back a bit before a rehone is needed

I've had an edge start to fade in mid-shave and a quick stropping brought it back enough to clean up.
I've kept hones in the bathroom for such things too. Normally - I'd just grab another blade but sometimes not.
Generally - I strop at my workbench, but I do have 3 strops in the bathroom - and, well - I like to use them sometimes.
