Any reviews/feedback on the Omega 11711 boar?

I'm looking for some feedback on this brush.
Ive had nearly all the Semogue boars but I realised Ive only ever had 3 Omega brushes.

I really like the look of the handle and I want to know a bit about the knot.

It's clear this is not a popular brush.

I ended up ordering it (couldn't resist the handle). I'll post my thoughts once I have used it for about two weeks.

I've received the brush and the first thing that struck me is how great the handle is. Ergonomic size and it looks great in the light ash wood.

I did a couple of test lathers to get the knot loosened up and used it for a shave this morning. It's a really nice brush and performed really well for a totally unbroken in boar.
I had to return to the puck as to be expected but I face lathered and got a thick and slick MWF lather and the shave was BBS.

I'm looking forward to the brush breaking in over the next couple of weeks. I'll use it daily if the tips are totally dry, otherwise, every second day to ensure good tip splitting.

You don't hear too much regarding this brush.. I think it is a sharp looking brush.. You really can't go wrong with any Omega Boar brush.. They are all great..

Glad to hear that you like the brush!

Think it's safe to say that the Omega Boar brush is the main brush. Going on about a month and a half of usage and the more it gets broken in, the more amazing it becomes.

Following just 3 shaves, the knot has really loosened up and holds enough lather for a full two passes and just a little more loading for the third.

The tips haven't started breaking in but the knot is still very soft and comfortable after a 5 minute pre-loading soak.

I've always wondered about that brush. I'm glad you are posting about it. Sometimes Omega gets a bad rap about their handles but that one appears to be of high quality.

As soon as I took the brush out of the packaging, I could tell it's of high quality. The handle, the knot setting etc are all top notch.

I used it again today with Speick soap (grated to puck form) and it actually held *just* enough lather for my full shave. This was a nice surprise because its only had 5 shaves in total.

I've got the Semogue SOC on the way so even though the Omega is turning out to be a fantastic brush...whether it remains in my den will be determined by how good the SOC is.

I've got Semogue SOC on the way too. . . . . I don't know how many brushes you have, but in the case of boar brushes, it's good to have more than one. The reason is, it takes much longer for them to dry out than a badger, so if you have two, you can rotate them.

Aside from the Omega, I also have a 2 band finest badger and the Semogue 830. I currently use the badger more than the boars but lets see what impact the SOC has on my rotation.

I have always found my boars to be completely dry by the next morning so I'm not too concerned about rotating boars...even though it happens by default as I love my 2 band finest badger.

Just got my SOC yesterday, so it will be fun to compare it against my Omega 005 boar brush. . . . Although your climate and mine would seem to be similar, it must be a climate difference, my boar brushes almost always take longer than 24 hrs to completely dry.
