Any long distance motorcycle riders

I caught the long distance riding bug about two years ago. Just wondering if anyone else rides or has ridden 500 to 1000+ miles in a day? April 13 or 14 of 2014 is the annual Moonshine Lunch Run in Illinois if any one is looking for a ride.

Years ago, I rode from northern Italy back home in a single trip. Never again! Since then, I've grown older and wiser, I hope :wink2:

The longest winter ride I did was 400km ... not very pleasurable as well.

Check out the Iron Butt rides they are epic. I ended my Mid-life Motorcycle adventure after a small but interesting wreck. I may get another GS after the kids are done with college.

I actually rode a motor scooter, a Vespa 250, all the way from San Jose, California to Seattle, Washington. Since then, I have upgraded to a Suzuki 650 V-Strom. I haven't taken it that far yet, but I hope to soon!

I'm actually an Iron Butt rider. Just curious if anyone else had the bug.

Two months. Don't know how many miles. Milwaukee Wisconsin to Ventura Beach California. California to New York. I still don't know why the Grateful Dead was following me the whole way. Honda 750. I would never consider doing it these days. Don't own a bike any longer. I don't know what my daily average was either. I really don't remember much actually.

I ride a sportster daily, and take a 1000 mile trip every year or so. I don't do more than 3 or four hundred miles in a day though. At that point, I am not alert or sharp enough to trust my safety on a small bike, nor do I find it enjoyable. But I can see why it would be very fun to ride for entire days on a comfortable and larger bike.

Ahh ... to clarify ... I rode home from Italy in a single stretch; that was madness (looking back on it).

However, multi day long road trips are great. Even single day, when you take enough time for stops.

Our sportbike club takes an annual trip down to Deals Gap, NC from Michigan. I ride there and back about 700 miles each way. Do it in one long day. The ride home is what sucks after riding for four days down there at 300 mi per day. The ride home is just a drain as anything north of Dayton is blah

Longest I've done was about 800 miles in a day. I would have gone longer but weather turned. That was many years ago. Don't know if I'd be up to it physically anymore. Even on an R750 it was tiring (I slept good though!). I would think with podcasts, I could keep my mind going for 1k days.

I rode the Dragon last year, it was awesome. I'm planning on Pikes Peak next year. I rode to Sturgis and back in 27 hours this year. I was trying to do 1500 miles in 24 hours. Didn't happen and doubt I'll try it again. I was close- 1480 miles- my longest time in the saddle. 1000 a day is my new limit, which is way more than I want to do without some planning.
