Any Drill Sergeants Here?

After sitting on the PPRL for a while, I finally got slotted for promotion, only instead of into the slot I already fill, they transferred me to a Drill Sgt unit. Kind of funny, kind of stupid. I don't remember checking "yes" for Drill Sgt consideration on the promotion packet checklist (I think I checked consideration for instructor), but whatever. I think I caused some waves with battalion by calling the HRC wondering where my orders were after sitting for 9 months on the list with nobody ahead of me, and using the chain wasn't getting me anywhere. A week later my orders came, lol. It's a good opportunity and will get me away from the Engineers for a little while.

Anyone else on here been on the trail before?

I still to this day have a have strange feeling come over me even thinking about a Drill Sgt.

I was on the 'trail' (senior drill), at Fort Jackson, SC (Dco, 2-39 [Rabid Dogs], Inf Regt, 4th Basic Training [BT] Brigade), from 90-93. I had 4th platoon...the 'Terminators';

"Terminators...the best by far...smoking all others like a cheap cigar. Motivated, Dedicated...Boom (lean back & lean forward)...that's our style...been that way for a long, long while...

and it was a great and experience. I learned more about my leadership abilities, met many soldiers from different demographic backgrounds and acquired the technical and mental knowledge that provided me the unique skills required to train IET soldiers in a BT environment (and being ready to take their place in today’s Army).

Opps...correction...I was 'on the trail' from 93-95 (my God...my memory is failing me. Must be suffering from CRS [Can't Remember Squat]).
