Any Canucks Have Experience With Customs and Duties on Orders from Classic Shaving?

Hi guys -- considering an order from Classic Shaving for about $300, and want to know people's recent experiences receiving orders from the US for that amount or greater in terms of taxes and customs charges. Items should ship USPS.

I just don't want to be shocked by an added hit.

Why not order from Fendrihan in Mississauga, ON - or Rasage Poulin in Alberta?

If it is going USPS there is usually $5.00 brokerage + GST + PST.

If it is sent USPS then you'll pay GST/HST and a $5.00 handling charge.



If your order has anything with alcohol in it...then it might be shipped UPS and then LOOK OUT!

Huge "Brokerage" fees, plus gst, plus handling fees. For $300 CAD value...$41.50 plus GST, plus the "invoice" fees and other such nonsense.

If being sent UPS...find a Canadian merchant if possible.

Hi Gents -- thanks for the responses. I've been placing recent orders with Rasage Poulin and have been having a fantastic experience, I highly recommend shopping with Scott. Very class act.

However, I am ardent about what I want and prefer getting that as opposed to "what's available". I have asked Scott to talk to his distributors to see if he can bring in the item required.

We'll see how badly my brain is bent on a Rooney 3/1 in Finest -- for that price I can get a Semogue 730, the SR 3118, and a 3/1 in Super.

I ordered a Merkur Progress from Classic shaving and I didn't pay any duty.

Go to www.cbsa-afsc.gc.ca. Click on Canadians and residents on the left column. You will see Importing-Postal imports, this will tell you everything you need to know. Whether all this happens is up for debate.

I've ordered from West Coast Shaving without paying any duty, it really depends heavily on who they use for a carrier. If it's UPS or FedEx there will definitely be brokerage fees, if it goes USPS you likely won't pay anything extra. Maybe check with Fendrihan though, he's got some rooney's in stock, maybe he can get what you're looking for. I've had good luck there.
