Antique Japanese razors

I've been looking at pictures of the one piece antique Japanese razors. I love the look of them and the obviously hand forged nature of them reminds me of a mini Japanese sword.

Do any of you have experience using these razors? How do they compare to western straights?

Also, how were these razors traditionally stored / carried? Since they do not have the handle to fold into I imagine the edge would always be at risk (or the owner).

I have a few, I liken them to driving a sports car around your face. Lots of fun to use but also totally different than a western style.
You owe it to yourself to give one a ride. As for storage, I keep mine in the small slide lid wooden boxes they came in.

Just be careful with what you buy. if your talking about vintage or antique they likely will need considerable work before using and if that's the case they can be very difficult to restore for shaving and not too many people work on them.
