Antique Blade Bank

I was in an antique mall today, and ran across what was listed as an antique blade bank. I didn't ask to see it, it was in a display case. The thing was about 3 inches square, and about 6 to 8 inches tall. It looked to be made of a dark wood. First, is it actually a blade bank, and is it worth 12.00?

Without a picture it's hard to say. I've not seen a wooden blade bank - only ceramic. Which doesn't mean they don't exist. But vendors don't always know what they're putting out for sale, either. I've seen stickers on Gillette razors calling them Gems and vice versa.

If you're interested in collecting them, $12 seems to be a reasonable price. I've paid as much as $30 for one (a Listerine frog) - but usually they are in the $8 - $15 range. Rare ones can go for more.

I can't say for sure what it is made of, could be anything. They had another one that looked like a small doll house, about 4 inches square. It was listed at 30.00.
