What's new

Another Deluxe stolen....

Look's like a Tuckaway which are "New Improved".

Are Tuckaways considered "Deluxe"?

My silver Tuckaway dates to 1921

The Tuckaway handle came first with a New Improved head and then later with a New Deluxe head. The set in the auction link looks like a Norfolk set. You can see the flat bottom plate of the New Deluxe head in the picture.

I am the winner of this auction, and I am surprised to have won it.
The bids you see are "feeler" bids, where I was gauging the competition, trying to decide if I should set a snipe on it or not.
He had 3 bids higher than my initial bid, so I felt safe pushing to see what increments he was bidding in. To my surprise, one of my 'feeler' bids ended up the high bid, and even more amazing, ended up winning.

No. The flat baseplate is a characteristic for the New Deluxe Head type. They are rare and hold great value. That set usually sells for over $80.

The New Deluxe is also my favorite shaver.

Great score amishmotorboat. Glad to see the collection rebuilding.
