In several of my posts I have made detrimental comments regarding MWF, I would humbly like to rescind these remarks and offer contrite grovels to all lovers of this soap.
My dislike was started several months back (when I started DE shaving again) and MWF was one of the first soaps I bought (off a well known but shall remain nameless internet auction site) and when it arrived it smelled RANK, really rotten, like a long dead sheep, and it would NOT raise any kind of lather no matter how dry or wet the brush was, what kind of brush, and keeping the soap wet or dry made no difference, just no lather at all and then to cap it all the soap developed a kind of ickky crust like a cheese rind, I threw it away in disgust and vowed - never again.
Some time later, after speaking to several shavers of my acquaintance who raved about the soap and who told me it shouldn't smell bad and should raise some lather even if not brilliant, I decided to give it a go again.
Ordered some new MWF, it arrived today, opened the pack it smelt faintly of soap and lanolin, dampened the puck slightly, applied a wrung out badger brush, gave it my usual 30 second blitz and ... WHAMMO some of the best lather I've ever produced. Slapped it on, great smooth slick cushion and a 3 pass BBS with a New and a Gillette Swede, no cuts, nicks, weepers or burn, a truly wonderful shave.
Now, where to fit it on my rotation? Tabac, MWF, Arko, Palmolive, NOS Old Spice, Speick... etc etc., I will use it regularly in future and look forward to some great shaves
