An adjustable with an open comb does such a razor exists?

Hi,

I’m rather taken with my Gillette Slim, I adjust the razor with each pass and have started to get really nice close shaves without any irritation. But I started wonder if Gillette ever made an adjustable with an open comb? And if so what are they like.

Not by Gillette, at least not anything that was released.
But after seeing this I would have to say that some wacky prototypes could exist.

if i'm not mistaken the old type razors were said to be "adjustable". from the booklet "the gillette way" that came with the old type sets: "as a rule it is best to screw the handle down to the guards tight, but for a close shave, turn the handle about 1/8 of a revolution to left and raise the blade from the guard."

Ziglar made a opened comb slant in 1957, I have one and it was a nice shaver but I tried to have it replated before I knew about zinc heads.
The teeth got partially eaten away, my guy tried to fix it by copper and then nickel plating it but it's a cheese grater now.

Yes there are open comb slants.
Actually, many of them. The only ones I know by name are Fasan and Ziglar. There are others which I do not know the names of, and if I'm not mistaken, I think somebody even talked about having an open comb slant merkur - but since I can't recall the look of it, it's possible that I only dreamt it.

I'd love to give one a try, i just tried and open comb for the first time and love them. Still need to try a slant though.

I use a Sheraton as a daily shaver. I love it!

I'm on the lookout for another one, or a Senator (the nickel plated version).
