Am I The Only Person...

...that gets just a little bit sad when I check the mail and there are no shaving products waiting for me?? My AD's are newly developed so maybe this will be a passing phase, but I really do get a bit disappointed when I don't have any "gifts" to open when I get home. Maybe I'm alone in this... But, this could be dangerous on my wallet if I don't practice some self-control since receiving items everyday means that I'd most likely be purchasing items on almost a daily basis. My LOTH will definitely not put up with me for long if I don't curb my habit a bit though. Does anyone else experience this??

No, you're not alone. When I got started and my AD's were going about 100 MPH, the UPS driver and I are now on a first name basis as it seemed to be almost a daily meeting.
I wanted to try it all... NOW!! I bought more razors and brushes and soaps and creams, etc. before others had arrived and I had a chance to try them. Kids grown, living alone and being debt free made it easier to accommodate the AD's, but then I stepped back and took a closer look. While DE's and Straights allow for a less expensive cost for shaving over the long haul, these AD's have turned a low cost activity into something like $7-$10 per shave.
Now I have identified my 2 favorite DE's (the EJ and Muhle '89'), I am selling off the rest, and have added straights, strops and hones to my most recent AD's.
So you buy a bunch of 'stuff', try it for a while and if you don't like one item over another, post it on BST.

Nope I get bummed not getting mail other than bills heh. I dd get some new shoes the other day. Shaving related I'm done buying for AWHILE.

I'm two-and-a-half years in - and on round 4 of the ADs (razors/brushes/soaps/aftershaves-colognes).... YES. I am totally bummed when there is no mail for me.

This is why His Great Noodliness invented the interweb...

I'm going through that right now. I'm waiting for my blades and brush off of ebay. I'm going to leave the brush at SWMBO, and I need the blades. Granted, I have some blades left...but, it's a pain to wait. Especially with a holiday to mess up shipping.

Ive been waiting 10 days so far for my MWF to show up i get so excited waiting for the mail to come and then so sad when i see that it hasnt arrived yet; I even once had a dream about it arriving in the mail. I was so happy until i woke up.

I get shaving gear almost every day

It's been that way for the past 5 weeks.

Sometimes I get packages and it's a surprise opening them cause I have so much stuff ordered I don't know what's in it! I've had as many as 5 packages come at a time and that's the most fun because you were only expecting one. I live with 5 family members, excluding me. My name is always on the mail that's in a box or bubble mailer.

I'm also glad most shaving gear is small so it'll usually go to USPS and that comes to my house on average at 11:30AM so by the time i'm up on weekends, or guaranteed by the time i'm home from school.

I hate UPS/Fedex packages. There's too much margin of not receiving the packages that way. Sometimes the darn things need signatures or get delayed or come really late in the day.

That was a huge issue when I used to deal primarily with PC hardware--it's all too big to fit in the mailbox. Incredibly irritating.

Shaving is too good!

At this rate, I won't even know if I get all my packages.

Right now I have these coming in:

Simpson Special
Simpson Duke
Rooney
Gillette Bleue
Iridiums
MWF
Mama Bear
Nancy Boy
Futur

Got this yesterday/the day before:

Tabac pucks (plural)
Gillette Greens
Blue Birds
Dorco St300
Dorco St301
Feathers
Krona
Other stuff I already forgot

You're not alone my friend.

I almost had a disaster Saturday when I went to the mailbox and discovered a package from my favorite merchant, Bullgoose.

I was overjoyed, thinking that I had forgot what I had ordered, so I hurried to slice it open and get it squirreled away before SWMBO got home.

YIKES !!!! I had forgotten that my birthday is in 10 days and SWMBO had paid attention to my wish list, and had gotten me some terrific software !!

Luckily, I had cut along the seams so a careful application of clear tape made it look untouched,,,,,,almost. Good enough so that she didn't notice,,,,I think.

PHEW.

Yeah, it's a slippery slope alright. I have had deliveries pretty much every day for the last 2 weeks. Strangely enough the one item that I bought off of the world's largest garage sale site on the 4th hasn't even been shipped yet and I'm beginning to gravitate toward an advanced state of pistivity.
As far as receiving shaving goods daily goes, I don't see it as a problem. If I took up golf, I would spend more on clubs, bags and other assorted gear in the first purchase than I'm likely to spend on shaving in several years.
Like the earlier poster said, when I weed through it and determine what works for me and what doesn't, I will dispose of the rest on B/S/T.

I have gone throguh 2 UPS drivers on first name basis-now on the 3rd and have had 5 mailpersons(on the 6th currently) that I know personally.

Who knew that joining B&B and the world of wetshaving opens up your social circle more fully.

I do not get sad any longer because I put off ordering until there is something I really want that goes on the B/S/T-then I'm on pins and needles until it arrives.

Plus, w/ my chess books obsession, rarely does a week go by w/o something in the mail for me.

nope. I check my mail box at least five times a day... eagerly.:glare:

You're not the only one. The thing is that SWMBO started to take notice and it seemed like the only days the mailbox was empty were the ones that she wasn't around to see that I don't get 'something every day!'.

Now the reverse is going on...I'm make 1-2 trips a day to the post office to mail stuff out. And using the money to buy more stuff. I'm getting choosier now. :)
