Am I the Lone Ranger in this style of stropping?

I have been using a straight for a year and a half now and enjoy using exclusively vintage hanging strops. The way that works best for me is to have it anchored to the middle hinge pin on the door. Then step away from the door with the strop held chest high. I face the hinge square on and have the strop pulled tight toward me. Then the actual stropping is away from me and back to me. Any other stance just doesn't feel right.

Am I all alone in this?

I hang mine from my doorknob, which is roughly waist high. I don't like stropping at an angle like that

When on the road, I hang from the middle hinge on the hotel bathroom door.

At home, I have a large cup hook screwed into the bottom of the cabinet... about lightswitch-high.

I've pondered asking people about this. I'm actually trying like crazy to find something like a carabiner that is large enough to fit around a doorknob I can attach a piece of nylon webbing to with an o-ring (or key chain ring) on the opposite end that I can then hook my strop onto (I have a Bid Daddy). This way I can re-attach it to anything. I originally thought I was going to have a hard time finding something small enough to not slip over the the handle. Apparently finding them large enough to go over the neck has been an issue.

I am 6'4.5" so even door knob height is kind of low for me, I've pondered putting something higher, but have to figure out if I want to put a hook in the wall. I've used a towel rod which is higher up and has me strop upwards, used things lower to strop downwards (that's the worst IMHO). I find level to be the best.

Aside from putting a hook in the wall (I guess the bathroom wouldn't be the best place to store a strop with the humidity from showers 'n such) would be the best. Sorry if this is a hijack, but does anyone else have any other creative, quick & easy recommendations for mounting options?

That's a crazy idea.

I use a door knob thats actually a handle. If yours was an actual ball-knob, that might be less than ideal.

My suggestion would be to just screw a hook into the wall. Make sure you find the stud first. I agree that bathroom probably isn't the best place. Surely you can find a suitable place though. The advantage to the hook is you can set it to whatever height you like. Otherwise, you could use a door hinge post as suggested by the OP

I guess my question was more about how you stand relative to the strop. So many of the videos I have seen show the strop held out to one side and the razor goes back and forth in front of you. I find it a lot easier to stand such that the strop is held in front of you and you are pulling straight away from the attachment point. Then the razor is pushed away and then pulled toward you.

You're not alone Captain!

Well, it's a big daddy and it has a clip on the end. I was going to clip that to the key chain ring on one side of the webbing w/ the carabiner on the other being the bit to go around the door knob. It is a proper knob too and not just a handle, so it wasn't even large enough to fit around the neck behind the bulbous front of the knob.

The quickdraw in the picture was great for hooking over a towel rail. It also made a good extender for the shorter of the 2 strops.
I have seen giant caribiners, but I don't know who sells them. Getting one just the right size for a doorknob might be difficult. The gate widths are remarkably small relative to the overall size.
