all-natural shampoo recommendations?

Switched soap from Dove to Kirk's Castile soap and I'm loving it so far. Any recommendations for an all-natural shampoo? Thanks!

I've tried Dr. Bronner's castile soap as shampoo a few times but didn't really like the way my hair felt afterward.

I liked Kirk's soap used as a shampoo, but I'll admit it's not for everybody.

I've been using Aubrey Organics Camomile Luxurious Volumizing Shampoo for about a week now and really like it. I'm not one to go running after everything with 'organic" or "natural" in the name, but I have to admit this product seems to work fine and better than the regular drugstore brands. And it's only $10 for an 11 oz bottle - not too bad.

I like Aveda for men.... SWMBO picked it up for me; its a bit too pricey for me to refill though. Has anyone tried the 'Grandpa's Pine Tar Shampoo?' I've tried the soap and love it, but haven't heard much on the haircare line.

Seems to me that pine tar (ie: naphtha & friends) would be really bad for your hair & scalp (possibly for your health as well).

grrr. crap, you're right. I actually did a lot of scholarly research on 1,4 Dioxane in the past, but didn't even think of it when considering non-synthetic formulations.

Yeah I don't like the dr. bronners as a shampoo, either. I take it camping with me, but that's about as long as I can tolerate it.

At home we use Nature's Gate Shampoos and Conditioners. Tons of different scents, but the herbal is the best so far.

lush karma komba. been using it for about a year, and really enjoy it. it's a nice citrus and patchouli scent. one bar lasts me a good two months, and if you buy 2 bars at once, you get a decent metal holder for free. i have a little collection of them so far.

Natural isn't going to work in a shampoo. There are people who try doing strange things like putting egg yolks in their hair, but if you're anything like the rest of us you'll want something which actually cleans effectively. I would focus on mild, not "natural".

I recently started making my own shampoo just a few weeks ago and found that unlike soaps there are just no guides to making them that I could find. The key to a good shampoo does seem to be using mild ingredients though - avoid the sulphates! If you see Sodium Lauryl Sulphate, Sodium Laureth Sulphate, or any of the similar variants, I would avoid them. Lauryl glucoside and decyl glucoside are good surfactants for a mild shampoo - one based on them should be much better.

No idea if it is "all natural" but I've been using the Whole Foods 365 brand of shampoo and conditioner and they seem to be doing a pretty good job. Better than Suave, that's for sure.

+1 on nancy boy

i LOVE this stuff. simple and effective with a lovely scent.

their conditioner is also nice. works especially well on my brushes after i've cleaned them.
