Aggressive razor sharp blade

I think I found out something today. A aggressive razor require a sharp blade and a mild razor don't require that the blade to be that sharp. I was using a Merkur Vision and a shark blade, and the blade worked better in my Gillette executive with the same type of shark blade. Anyone agree with me ?

Still haven't found that perfect marriage of blade and razor yet. It intrigues me that what works well in one razor doesn't in another.

Curious if this theory works with the R41? My normal go-to blade in other razors, the Astra SP, seems to drag and cut my face. Perhaps trying a Feather in this agressive beast would be better?

The same blade that works best in my tech doesn't not work that well in my 37 slant. You really have to experiment, and for me that's half the fun.

For me, an aggressive razor needs a smooth blade. If I use a rougher blade (for me) such as a Sputnik I get irritation with an aggressive razor. However, a Personna Lab or Med blade works fine. On the other hand, in a mild razor any blade is fine with me.

This is similar to my experience. The only time I use a Feather is in my Tech, whereas in my HD Rocket, I need a smoother blade like a Voskhod

I think I'm preferring a milder razor with a sharp blade. I like my Ikon OC with a Feather or Polsilver SI. If I've got a lot of growth then maybe a Fatip with Polsilver SI. With a more aggressive razor and a Feather I'm more likely to get a few weepers and some burn in that tough spot on my neck. Maybe in a few more months my technique will improve enough to prevent that. It's been a little over 6 months, but I feel like I'm still learning about products, prep and technique.

I never had a problem with almost any blade in my techs but once I started using adjustables or modern razors that were more aggressive. I also think it depends on the weight of the razor. I like Derbies just fine until I started using an ikon. As a mild shaver I can't get a good result without a blade sharper than a Derby. Less sharp blades seem to drag.
