After Shave combining/layering/lotions/moisturising etc?

Evening Gents
Interested in what others may have experimented with and now use regularly. I have done a bit of combining AS in hand and applying together and also mixed AS with Myrsol emulsion (that worked great) or maybe just your own routine of what you apply and when?
At present I regularly apply Floid Vigoroso immediately after cold water and towel dry and then after cleaning up applying something else.

I put on Floid Blue, and the Guinot Aftershave Balm on some days. Floid Blue alone dries my skin out too much, however on other days I just use Esbjerg Aftershave Gel.

I basically do cold water rinse, witch hazel w/ a few drops of glycerin (applied with a sprayer), an aftershave lotion (usually with alcohol), and then an aftershave balm. I change nearly everyday as far as the brands I use..... although my favorite aftershave balms are T&H Ultimate Comfort AS Balm, Crown Shaving Co. Soothing AS Lotion, Cade AS Balm, and Castle Forbes Lavender AS Balm. D.R. Harris Arlington AS Milk is also a favorite of them although I get a little burning immediately after application, but subsides quickly and leaves my face feeling soft and smooth for the next few hours. Speick AS Balsam is another great balm IMO. This summer I will probably hit the 444 balm as well..... with a few drops of AS splash mixed in of course.... instead of a regular AS balm.

Witch hazel followed by a splash. In the winter months I combine Nivea post shave balm with whatever splash I've chosen for the extra moisturizing.

Single aftershave product for me. Either Trumper Skin Food or Clinique Post Shave Healer.

Thanks,
Mike

After a cool rinse, I use an aftershave splash which is either homemade with a witch hazel base, or an alcohol based splash. My favorites are Aqua Velva and DR Harris Sandalwood. After I finish cleaning up brush and sink, I apply a after shave balm - favorites are Nivea Sensitive, Mama Bear's Summer, Gentleman's Refinery and Clinique Post Shave Healer. I feel like using both a splash and balm that I am getting the best of both worlds. Works great for me.

wow this thread I think was made for me !!!! I may be the king of layering so here we go....... I start in the shower actually and use Anthony Logistics glycolic facial cleanser which also softens the whiskers, after this I depending on what regimen I decide for the day may or may not either use a pre shave oil or prosaro pre shave. I will also at this point decide if I'm going straight soap and usually then no pre shave or a mix of cream and soap or just straight cream but if I use a cream I always use a pre shave. after the shave this is where I get complex.... first I cold water rinse and towel dry , next is a astringent or a toner either Dickinson's witch hazel or Anthony logistics pads which I'm not 100% sure what's in those but they work great. next after that dries I apply a glycolic acid gel that prevents and treats ( if I have any ) ingrown hairs and razor burn which I did suffer from before I started this regimine. After this dries I usually will apply one of my ASB which I have too many to list but my favorite is probably TOBS. after a while I will add a straight aftershave I have become very partial to Pinaud scents ... all of them even Lilac Vegetal which may even be my favorite. lastly for the rest of me I put on Pinaud talc for the body. Now that my friends is layering to a extreme but my skin and shave has been brought to a whole other level and I mean amazing results be it a lot of work, and btw I am not a metrosexual. I think.

Now that's a routine  it's great how you can put something together that gives you the best result.
Sure beats an electric and some AS that sets fire to everything and you end up with a red neck for the next 2 days. (that was my routine once upon a time)

There are a few combos I like, one being Aqua Velva Musk mixed with Jeris Musk, another being VIBR, Master Bay Rum and either Pinaud Lime Sec or Citrus Musk all mixed together. Recently, I came up with something else I really like: The Veg mixed with about 25-30% Tres Flores aftershave. This brings out the best of both aftershaves, and minimizes the worst of these two controversial scents.

Have been wondering about this...

Gel / balm first? and then after shave? Or vise-versa?

I have used Gillette after shave gel for years - but I want to start using an AS - and maybe top off with a cologne. I just got a bunch of AS samples in from Garry's shop.

Lastly - I have somewhat oily skin - never even entered my mind into I started reading here on B&B that I might not need a gel / balm...?

Your input is greatly appreciated.

Might want to start your own thread for this mate. But I use Aftershave splash, and then a balm because the splash alone dries my face too much.

After my final pass I rinse with cold water and towel dry. Then I apply Witch Hazel and let air dry. Then it's a splash of aftershave for the scent and the 'Whoo!', and again let air-dry. Lastly is an application of facial moisturizer (Cetaphil) as my skin tends to be a bit sensitive/dry.

If I finish off a shave with a lotion or edt, I will usually apply a dab of IK Shea butter cream. It's great.
