Acrylic Scale Material = Perspex?

Hi all, I'm just wondering if the acrylic scale material that a lot of guys are using for restoring razors is a regular Perspex-type material (ie plastic stuff that's mainly used for shop-fitting and sign-writing applications)? It looks like it in many of the tutorials here, but my experience with this stuff is that it scratches very very easily (although it can take a very high polish). Are you gentlemen using some kind of special-purpose acrylic?

I've just used regular Perspex. If you leave the protective film on as long as possible you can avoid most of the scratches.

I use plain old acrylic that has a protective film on it. it does scratch easily but I use this Micromesh to sand and polish them up. after I run it thru all 9 sheets, I hit it with some metal or car polish by hand and they clean up very nice. I use the first sheets listed, but have been eyeballing the 3rd set.:thumbup1:

Thanks for confirming that! I've been toying with the idea of restoring my razor for a while, but I'm set on doing it now. This stuff comes in hundreds of colours, so this should get interesting... I'll report back here if I ever get around to doing it.
