A question about Proraso soaps

I've been happily using Proraso Shaving Soap for Ultra-Sensitive Skin (the white tub) for the last two months, and I have noticed something.

After a few shaves, I notice that my razor will start accumulating a chalky white reside on the head, particularly on the teeth of the comb. Furthermore, this film/residue is pretty hard to clean up and requires that I either boil or alcohol bath my razor. Has anyone else had this experience with Proraso or other soaps? I haven't tried a ton of different soaps, but this is the first time that I've ever had this issue.

I should say that I have zero complaints with this soap, and my lathers are never particularly dry or wet. It performs like a champ, no questions. But I am rather annoyed that I have to give my razor a thorough cleaning every three shaves or so, at least if I want it to look pretty.

Does anyone have any advice or know of a quick way to clean this up without having to boil my razor or give it an alcohol bath?

I haven't used the Proraso soap but I use their cream and I don't have any issues other than the normal soap build up I get with all my other soaps and creams. Have you tried a squirt of Scrubbing Bubbles or Simple Green after a shave to remove the tough soap scum?

Yes.....after your shave, leave your razor in a mug full of hot water. Come back to it later on and rinse off with hot water.
If that doesn't work I'd look for a new soap.

I use the white tub Proraso fairly often and I just use an old toothbrush every few shaves to give my razor a quick scrub under hot tap water. I have never had occasion to boil my razor or anything.

Come to think of it, I don't know if I've ever been aware of any particular shaving cream or soap NOT creating a white residue over time. Every so often maybe you could use a toothbrush and a bit of detergent to remove the built up soap film that normally accumulates.

i heard somewhere that vinegar really cuts this stuff? maybe that will help?

+1 to this with the occasional splash of medicated alcohol

+1 - I use both soaps and creams and rinse my razor under hot water then dry with a towel...no prob

Every soap I have leaves soap residue on a razor. Just wipe it off and dont worry about it

Me too, then at the next blade change i will give it a thorough wipe over with a couple of dry tissues just to keep it looking shmicko

This is what I do as well. Sometimes I put a drop of dishwashing soap on the brush and give the razor a good scrub.
