What's new

A new experiment

I got this idea from someone on facebook. And I see it as a great way to actually find out what I have and if I like it. This is what I will do:

1. Do not use anything more that once until I have used everything I have in that segment. (Brushes will quite soon be used again since I don't have that many of them.)
2. Each shave will as long as it's possible contain at least: One favorite, one new thing I haven't tried before, and something I haven't tried for a while because I didn't like it much.
3. I will not give up before I have used up all my products in at least three segments.
SOTD:

$Shave 1.jpg

Gillette Superspeed (Used before, but never fallen in love with it)
Shark SS blade (An old favorite I haven't used for a while)
Whippeddog 24mm Silvertip (One of my two favorite badgers)
Gentlemen Shave soap V2 (Sent me to try out, first time tried)
L'oreal ASB (Tried it a couple of times a long time ago, but never liked it to much)
I Will make a video of this first shave and let you know how it went.

I think I have written this a little unclear. I don't mean to finish one product, just try each product once until I have tried everything I have.

It sounds promising.
What do you expect to be the final results to be?

I think most stuff will be as I remember them, but hope to get some aha moments with things I haven't loved in the past. What I hope the final result will be is that I will know what I want to keep and what things I can get rid of.

Shave 2

$Shave 2.jpg

Used today:
Gillette Fat handled Tech(Used before, but not loved)
Gillette 7'o clock Sharp Edge(Used once before with good luck)
Baxter of California Super Close Shave Formula(New to me)
Whipped dog Horse/Black badger brush(I really like this brush)
Nivea Moisterising ASB(Used before and thought it was ok, but nothing special)

Nice enough shave. The Tech is very easy to use and I can throw it around my face without worries. It doesn't give me a very close shave though, it's just too mild. The blade seemed to do a good job, no tugging or irritation. The shave formula said on the bottle it worked best with a brush, but it wasn't lathering at all. I had to load the brush for each pass. It worked well, but I missed the lather. The scent wasn't anything special either. The Nivea balm was better then the L'oreal, but not as good as my favorite balms.

There are really some great photographers on this forum. I am continually amazed by the pics I see.

Thank you very much. I actually use a cheap digital camera and the photo was quite wrongly lit so I played around with it in GIMP2.

So basically it's an organized rotation? A way to eventually try everything together... ish? Instead of randomly choosing something each day?

This will be easy for me.

If I am at home, I will use my home kit - AoS pre-shave oil, AoS shave cream, AoS aftershave all in Sandalwood, AoS fine badger brush, Merkur 38C HD Classic Barber Pole Long Handle razor & Personna blue blades.

If I am on the road, I will use my travel kit - Taconic Organic Shave Oil (unscented), Tabac Shave Stick, Tabac Original After Shave Balm, Simpsons Wee Scot brush, Merkur 46C Satin Travel Razor - long handle & Personna blue blades.

I can use each in 2 days.

In a way, but mostly it's to make me use all the things I have, and not just my favorites. I plan to do a den cleaning and get rid of a lot of my shaving stuff when I'm done.
