Tonight I tried 2 new things in my shave routine that together provided absolutely fantastic results.
FIRST - I took a long hot steam sauna just prior to shaving. We have one of these in my house, but I haven't been using it much over the last couple years. Just kinda forgot about it, but tonight I cranked her up with the full intention of heading into a shave right after. I'll be doing this more often for sure.
SECOND - once I was properly steamed and hydrated I shaved with some Trumper's violets for the first run at my new toggle (Thanks Alex!).
What. a. shave!
It's shaves like this that make me sad when I think about all the years I wasted shaving improperly. All those wasted, annoying shaves with plastic multi-blade garbage and canned synthetic chemical smelling crap.
I realize not everyone can run out and get a steam sauna - or a toggle for that matter, but if you ever find yourself in a hotel or at a gym with a sauna I urge you to get all your gear ready and then go give it a shot. The toggle was a luxury but any fine shaving tool of choice will suffice I'm sure.
The sit around after in your bathrobe and enjoy what ever fine spirit you want. Mine is just a fresh coffee but it has never tasted so good. If you have a fireplace might I suggest a good spot right in front of it. It helps if it's as cold as Jack Frost's scrotum outside like it is here in Canada right now.
